J22-A and J22-B performance data

As I mentioned earlier. I do not have any confirmation that the engines were boosted to 1200Hp with the availability of higher octane fuel, but for the purpose of this comparison, I will assume that the later version, the J22-B, had 1200Hp and the earlier version, the J22-A, had 1050Hp. The following graphs are based upon published performance numbers and interpolated and extrapolated numbers based upon the available power at altitudes and different power settings.

Max continuous power and Max combat power versus altitude

As shown above, the 1200Hp version had increased performance up to best altitude (11,500ft), but top speed remained the same as for the 1050Hp version.

Rate of climb

The initial rate of climb with the J22-A, 1050Hp, was around 2800ft/min and the J22-B was 3400ft/min.
