Color plates and markings

This a basic J22-B from F8, Barkaby, outside of Stockholm. This was the basic color scheme of the J22's and referred to as Marking m/44.

J22-B, s/n 22238, manufactured February 28th, 1945. This very unorthodox paint job was done in commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of the F3 Fighter Wing at Malmslätt outside Linköping, in August 26th, 1951.
This Aircraft became known as "Blixten" or "J22 Röd" (The Lightning or J22 red) due to the lightning on the side of the fuselage. It did not have any weapons and all "unnecessary" military equipment was removed.
Due to this, the aircraft was very light and the performance and handling was excellent. It was very popular with the pilots who flew it. The aircraft did not have any National markings, only the tail number under the horizontal tail. It was scrapped May 17th, 1952.

J22-A, s/n 22203, manufactured December 15, 1944. The unorthodox striped markings was for an Airforce manoeuver in 1950 when it belonged to the F3 Airforce wing, 2 Division (2nd squadron) at Malmslätt outside Linköping, as "Blå Niklas" (Blue N). This aircraft was scrapped May 15th, 1952.(Ref. 18 & 20)

Here is a picture of the real aircraft in 1950.

On the following 2 pictures you can see the markings for the individual Divisions (Squadrons) as they used cartoons. (Ref 18 & 20).

This is J22-B, "Röd Ludvig", s/n 22280.  Some Squadrons had a white spiral on a red spinner.
